"Do Your Leaders Build or Erode Trust?"
There is ample research to support the contention that Trust is a critical element in any high performing workplace, but recent (2016) research by The Ken Blanchard Companies® has directly correlated leader trustworthiness to the "Five Key Intentions of Engaged Employees", namely, the intention to:
- contribute discretionary effort
- perform about the minimum expectation
- endorse the organisation as an employer, provider and investment
- remain and continue to contribute
- demonstrate organisational citizenship
And although most would nod and agree that this important, other research by Blanchard and others seems to indicate that workplace trust is declining, rather than developing.
Trust must be earned over time, by leaders who are competent to occupy their role, act with integrity, are connected to their people and who deliver to their promises.
Building Trust is a skills-based training program designed to help managers and leaders develop the four critical elements of trusting relationships.
And by Building Trust, leaders are enabling cooperation, encouraging information sharing, and increasing openness and mutual acceptance.
